The MLPerf team—including product managers, program managers, and engineers—builds, operates, and sustains the benchmarks, evaluation harnesses, and infrastructure that serve our member organizations and the global AI ecosystem.

The MLPerf General Manager Role
We are hiring a lead for the MLPerf Program to own its vision, thought leadership, and business development. You will set the strategic direction, ensuring MLPerf’s success and reputation as the industry standard for performance measurement.
As the primary architect for the vision of MLPerf, this role will have a strategic mandate to maintain MLPerf’s position as the definitive industry benchmark for AI performance measurement. This requires driving consensus across a diverse 501(c)(6) consortium, which requires a careful balancing of the potentially competing interests of academic researchers, agile startups, and an ecosystem of global industry leaders. You will steer the program’s long-term roadmap, ensuring it remains at the forefront of the rapidly evolving AI landscape by proactively addressing emerging trends, particular in inference and training.
Operationally, this is a hands-on “player-coach” managerial role that oversees the MLPerf staff and the entire MLPerf benchmark development lifecycle, from the rigorous definition of methodologies to the final publication of results. You will lead the team in executing these technical milestones with precision, leveraging deep technical credibility to bridge gaps between engineering, product management, and non-technical stakeholders. By ensuring the program remains technologically robust yet accessible, you will enable the broader AI community to rely on MLPerf for transparent and authoritative performance measurement.
What You’ll Do
- Own the P&L and overall MLPerf strategy. Serve as the business owner for the MLPerf program, responsible for mapping our strategic roadmap to financial outcomes. You will drive revenue generation by cultivating the community and act as the primary decision-maker for investment priorities, ensuring our technical roadmap and product development are fully aligned with our financial sustainability.
- Cultivate deep member and board relationships. Partner with Working Groups to define and prioritize the benchmark roadmap, and own its execution. You will champion a customer-success mindset to ensure a high-value experience for our members, and lead board-level engagement by clearly articulating and securing support for the long-term MLPerf product and business strategy.
- Evolve the "MLPerf benchmark factory": Increase the velocity, completeness, and rigor of our benchmark lifecycle, while maintaining the reproducibility and transparent governance that define MLPerf as the industry record.
- Bridge technical rigor and business value: Partner with technical working groups and stakeholders to build consensus. Communicate the business impact of our benchmarks to advocate for membership value.
- Maintain hands-on technical credibility: Contribute to benchmark design, rules definition, and results analysis while setting strategic engineering priorities and resolving conflicts within Working Groups.
- Convene industry expertise to inform technical judgment. Build and activate a trusted network of technical leaders and domain experts across the industry to bring the right perspectives to consequential technical debates. On topics where the path forward is contested or requires nuanced judgment, synthesize external expertise to pressure-test assumptions, surface tradeoffs, and help the community reach technically sound, broadly credible decisions.
- Accelerate via AI-native operations: Champion modern AI tools and agents to increase team efficiency and agility.
- Manage the MLPerf team: Build and lead a product-focused team of product managers and relationship leads. Partner with engineering to ensure high-quality delivery.
What We’re Looking For
Core
- Strong analytical skills and judgment for trade-offs in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
- Product management experience, ideally in technical standards, evaluation platforms, or AI developer tools.
- Deep understanding of AI/ML systems, benchmarking, and performance engineering.
- Strategic grasp of the AI ecosystem and how performance metrics drive decision-making.
- Ability to operate with hands-on leadership and autonomy in a rapidly evolving landscape. Comfortable defining, modifying, and executing strategic roadmaps in a rapidly evolving landscape.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of bridging the gap between engineering and non-technical stakeholders (e.g., enterprise buyers).
Specific interest
We’re especially interested in the following kinds of background and experience we think would help someone succeed:
- Experience with enterprise procurement processes or translating technical product data into clear business or economic value.
- Deep familiarity with AI hardware and the inference/training software stack, and how they interact to drive performance.
- Experience working in or with a consortium, standards body, open-source community, or other multi-stakeholder environment.
