The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill one full-time French Language Services Coordinator position within our Languages Department located at 200 Main Street in Winnipeg, MB. The coordinator will coordinate French-language service delivery across MMF departments, identify gaps and opportunities, develop processes and recommendations, and monitor and report on progress.
Job Duties/Competencies:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the MMF French Language Services Plan and track progress against established objectives;
- Coordinate the implementation of French-language services and priorities across MMF departments, programs, and initiatives;
- Identify gaps, risks, opportunities, and organizational capacity related to French-language service delivery and develop practical recommendations;
- Translate, review, and edit priority MMF correspondence, reports, policies, presentations, public notices, and communications into French;
- Monitor federal and provincial legislation, policies, programs, and standards related to French-language services and advise leadership on relevant implications;
- Build and maintain relationships with Manitoba Francophone organizations and institutions to strengthen French-language service capacity and collaboration.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Post Secondary Education in French, Communications, Public Administration, Languages, Indigenous Studies, or a related field;
- Minimum of 3 years of related professional experience in French-language services, program coordination, communications, public administration, policy, project coordination, or a related field;
- Experience providing French-English translation or editing services is required;
- Demonstrated experience developing reports, proposals, briefing materials, or other written materials;
- Experience coordinating projects, initiatives, or cross-departmental activities;
- Experience working with Francophone organizations, institutions, or communities is considered an asset;
- Experience with grant research, proposal development, funding applications, and reporting is an asset;
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
- Acceptable Criminal Record Check is required;
- Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
- Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
