Job Summary
Montefiore Medical Center provides state-of-the-art psychiatric care to a diverse and underserved patient population throughout the Bronx and surrounding communities. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences operates a comprehensive continuum of services, including licensed inpatient psychiatric care.  

We are seeking a full-time Psychologists to join our inpatient psychiatry service. One position is based on the Klau 2 Unit at the Moses Campus, a 22-bed adult inpatient psychiatric unit, and the second position is based on the 7 South Unit at the Wakefield Campus, a 33-bed adult inpatient psychiatric unit.

As core members of the multidisciplinary treatment team, these Psychologists will actively participate in treatment planning, clinical case discussions, patient rounds, and care coordination to support high-quality, patient-centered care. They will play an integral role in the delivery of psychological services within their respective inpatient programs. Responsibilities include conducting psychological assessments; developing and implementing treatment plans; providing individual, group, and family therapy; collaborating closely with psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, creative arts therapists, and other disciplines; supervising trainees; and participating in discharge planning and transitions of care.

Special Projects and reports will occasionally be requested by the Department Chairperson, other department heads, the Director of DBT Services and Research, and hospital administration.

The positions will have opportunities for teaching, supervision, scholarship, and collaboration on program development and quality improvement initiatives. They will also be eligible for an academic appointment at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Currently, the hospital has academic affiliations and participates in the education of medical students, psychiatry residents, physician assistant students, doctoral-level psychology students (psychology interns), and nurse practitioner students. There would be an opportunity to develop and implement an externship program for clinical psychology students.

Education and skills required:

• Doctorate in Psychology

• Licensed or license eligible in New York State

• Previous training or employment experience working with serious mental illness

• Previous training and experience in short-term CBT and DBT (preferred)
