    How You’ll Make an Impact

    • Tasks to be performed by an HHA/CNA must be assigned by and performed under the supervision of an RN who will be responsible for the patient care provided by the HHA/CNA. Under no circumstances may an HHA/CNA be assigned to receive or reduce any intravenous procedures, procedures involving the use of Levin's tubes or Foley catheters, or any other sterile or invasive procedures, other than rectal temperatures or enemas. Except as otherwise noted, duties of the HHA/CNA includes the following: 
    •  Client Care: Listening and responding to concerns and questions. Completing all necessary and appropriate care, including toileting, vital signs, repositioning, transferring, bathing & dressing. Reporting all concerns and changes to appropriate nursing staff. 
    • Nutrition of Client: Involves assisting residents by providing them with all their nutritional needs.
    • Professionalism: Involves maintaining a neat and clean appearance, the willingness to learn new concepts, accepting accountability for job performance, the ability to manage time effectively, and promoting compassion and understanding for the clients’ needs/wants.
    • Attendance and Punctuality: Involves coming to work when assigned, checking the timecard, checking the schedule and reporting for the assignment in a timely manner. 
    • Safety for Self and Residents: Involves personal safety in all work, being alert, and watching out for the safety of the client. 
    • Communications and Customer Service: Involves speaking with client, families and staff; with tact, diplomacy, and strong listening skills. 
    • Documentation: Completing required documentation after the completion of care. Filing in the chart as required. 
    • Activities: Assisting client with appropriate activities. Performing other duties as assigned. Follow infection control guidelines per policies and procedures.
    • Organization: Completion of care in a timely manner. 
    • Continuing Education: Involves participating in all mandatory in services, and compliance with State of Florida Board of Nursing continuing education for the Certified Nursing Assistant.

    QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); (75 hrs technical training) year’s related experience and/or training; or with 1 year of CNA experience.
    • Must have at least one year experience working with the frail elderly.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    • Home Health Aide Certificate or Certified Nurse Assistant Certificate. Have completed a basic aide training program of at least 75 hours of training.
    • Certified Nursing Assistant License issued by the State of Florida and a High School Diploma or equivalent.
