Job Summary

Reporting to the Regional Plant Controller – Eastern Canada this role manages full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, inventory controls, fixed assets, and regulatory compliance across complex operational mining environments.

Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Close & General Accounting

• Completes operational month end close activities, reconciliations (OneStream), and routine journal entries (accruals/prepaids).
• Conducts variance analysis and acts as primary support for internal/external financial audits.

Production, Inventory & Fixed Assets

• Validates weekly Inventory production spreadsheets against SAP data, coordinates cycle counts, and posts inventory adjustments.
• Performs fixed asset settlements, monitors Assets Under Construction (AUC), and partners with engineering on timely project close-outs.

Procurement & AP Management

• Directs Vendor Invoice Management (VIM) systems and resolves aged (>90 days) Goods Receipt/Invoice Receipt (GR/IR) variances.
• Releases purchase orders, creates Ariba requisitions, and manages vendor maintenance profiles.

Payroll & Regulatory Reporting

• Processes operational payroll remittances, WCB payments, union chargebacks, and Employment Insurance rebates.
• Completes mandatory Statistics Canada filings and localized regulatory survey requirements.

Budgeting & Forecasting Support

• Assist in establishing annual budgeting workbooks and supporting schedules.
• Assist with headcount planning and development of hourly and salaried labor budgets.
• Support preparation of budget and forecast presentations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (CPA designation or active enrollment preferred).
• 2+ years experience required (5+ years accounting experience preferred; manufacturing or heavy industrial  environment preferred).
• Bilingualism in English and French is strictly required.
• Willingness to accommodate periodic local site travel and necessary overtime
• Strong working knowledge of SAP is considered an asset.
• Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
• Accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines.
• Assertive, comfortable communicating with various types of individuals.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments and key business partners.
• Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of inventory control and manufacturing accounting principles.
