Registered Sedation Nurse

The Sedation Nurse for National Vascular Associates' Baltimore region is responsible for administering conscious (moderate) sedation under the direct supervision of a Medical Doctor. This role involves providing comprehensive care before, during, and after sedation procedures, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining all necessary documentation and equipment. The Sedation Nurse also collaborates with the healthcare team to verify procedures, manage IVs, and respond to emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer conscious sedation medications under the direct supervision of the Medical Doctor.
• Assess patients before, during, and after sedation, providing appropriate care throughout the procedure.
• Verify the procedure to be performed with the Provider and ensure all necessary paperwork and consents are completed and signed.
• Start and manage IVs during procedures, ensuring proper fluid and medication administration.
• Perform patient labs and report findings to the Provider.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
• Maintain and ensure the readiness of emergency and monitoring equipment.
• Obtain and administer medications as ordered by the Medical Doctor.
• Maintain medication inventory and accurate medication logs.
