    Job description

At MUFG Pension & Market Services, your senior tax expertise will play a critical role in supporting millions of Australians through a highly regulated, purpose‑driven financial services environment. As part of a global financial institution, you’ll partner closely with executive leaders, lead a geographically dispersed tax function, and shape tax strategy across multiple jurisdictions — all while entering the superannuation sector with strong influence and visibility from day one.

This is a senior leadership role for an experienced tax professional who thrives on complexity, global engagement and commercial problem‑solving.

    The Role

As Head of Tax – Global, you will lead MUFG Pension & Market Services’ global tax function, ensuring full compliance with corporate and indirect tax obligations across all jurisdictions while providing trusted, commercial tax advice to the business.

You will operate as a senior business partner to the CFO, executive leadership team and global stakeholders, with a strong focus on tax risk management, governance, transfer pricing and supporting strategic initiatives such as acquisitions, restructures and international expansion.

    Key Responsibilities

    Your day‑to‑day will include:

    • Acting as the global tax lead and primary point of contact with tax authorities across all jurisdictions in which MUFG Pension & Market Services operates
    • Partnering with senior leaders and business units (Finance, Legal, HR, Technology, Treasury) to resolve complex tax matters and embed tax‑effective, compliant outcomes into operations and supplier arrangements
    • Leading tax risk management and governance, including development and maintenance of frameworks aligned to the Tax Risk Management and Governance Policy
    • Overseeing global direct and indirect tax compliance, ensuring accurate, timely filings and robust procedures across all entities
    • Providing expert advice on transfer pricing, capital management, inter‑group arrangements, debt vs equity funding and cross‑border transactions
    • Supporting and advising on strategic projects including acquisitions, divestments, restructures and entry into new jurisdictions
    • Managing tax accounting, effective tax rate determination and tax effect accounting for management, statutory and group reporting
    • Leading, coaching and developing a global team of tax professionals, while managing relationships with external advisors and regulators

    About You

You are a senior tax leader who combines deep technical expertise with strong commercial judgement and stakeholder influence.

    You will bring:

    • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Law
    • CA, CPA or CTA qualification
    • 10+ years’ experience in large multinational organisations or top‑tier accounting firms, operating at Senior Manager or Director level
    • Strong understanding of Australian tax legislation, with exposure to UK, Irish and New Zealand taxation highly regarded
    • Demonstrated experience in tax risk management, governance frameworks and transfer pricing
    • Proven ability to lead tax functions across international entities, partnering effectively with senior executives and global stakeholders
    • Experience managing tax accounting, reporting and compliance under current accounting standards
    • A pragmatic, solutions‑focused approach with the confidence to operate autonomously at executive level
    • Excellent written, verbal and numerate skills, with strong systems capability (e.g. CCH Integrator or similar)

    Desirable:
