Development Manager

As part of our Technology Organisation, the Engineering team plays a critical role in supporting our existing products while developing the next generation of digital solutions. Working closely with Product, Design, and Customer-facing teams, we build the technology that helps insurers deliver faster, more intelligent underwriting decisions with confidence.

We are seeking a Development Manager to lead and grow a high-performing engineering team, drive technical excellence, and contribute to the delivery of innovative SaaS solutions that shape the future of insurance technology.

About the Role

As a Development Manager, you will combine strong people leadership with technical expertise to build, develop, and inspire engineering teams. You will play a key role in executing MRAS's technology strategy while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.

This is an exciting opportunity to help establish MRAS as a global technology leader by leading teams responsible for building scalable, secure, and customer-focused solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

• Build rounded Engineers and leaders with a focus on delivering to MRAS core values.
• Ensure personal growth pathways and performance accountability are core to the engineering culture.
• Seek out and work with the experts both in the engineering group and the wider technology team to lead the development of coherent solutions that apply best practices and tools.
• Collaborate with other Munich Re leaders, executives and external partners to provide the best underwriting experience for our customers.
• Build high quality, scalable, fault tolerant systems that customers love.
• Influence technical thought leadership within the company.
• Champion engineering-specific roadmap items, while advocating for customer value.
• To champion a diverse & inclusive culture.
• To lead a high performing team with a people first attitude.
• Ensure Development Teams follow secure development lifecycle controls and vulnerability remediation.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

• Proven experience leading and developing high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong technical background with full-stack software development experience.
• Experience building, scaling, and operating large SaaS platforms.
• Passion for mentoring, coaching, and growing engineering talent.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to positively influence teams and stakeholders.
• Experience managing multiple priorities in fast-paced, complex environments.
• Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies and customer-centric product delivery.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build trust, lead through influence, and drive successful outcomes.

Nice to Have

• Experience working within the life insurance or financial services technology sector.
• Previous Product Owner experience.
• Agile coaching or delivery experience.
• Additional language skills.
