We are looking for a bright AI Engineer to join our Life Science Engineering team based in Louvain-la-Neuve

We work with top 10 pharmaceutical companies in the world such as AstraZeneca and Boehringer Ingelheim.

As a AI Engineer, you will join our Engineering department to build and scale the AI capabilities that are integrated directly into our customer-facing platforms and services.

What you'll do:

Core Engineering & Product Delivery

• Designing, constructing, and implementing generative AI features—including agentic workflows and secure RAG pipelines utilizing vector databases—to link our internal clinical data directly into N-SIDE's core SaaS products and applications
• Managing the integration of foundation models—ranging from proprietary solutions to self-hosted open-source alternatives like Llama or Qwen
• Partnering with product managers and domain specialists to convert complex business needs into effective, production-ready AI solutions

Quality, Scalability & Long-Term Ownership

• Setting up automated evaluation frameworks and implementing self-healing features that continuously monitor and improve the factual accuracy and output quality of our AI systems over time
• Architecting robust prompt systems and safety guardrails, taking long-term ownership to maintain, monitor, and iterate on these solutions in production rather than just "delivering and forgetting"
• Taking responsibility for the economic efficiency and scalability of GenAI services by monitoring latency, token usage, overall throughput, and operational costs

Mentoring & Collaboration

• Onboarding, training, and mentoring the broader engineering department on AI concepts, tooling, and best practices to scale our internal AI implementation capabilities
• Acting as an internal consultant for our AI-ready SDLC and internal employee tooling, while keeping your primary focus on engineering our customer-facing applications

About you:

• You bring over three years of professional engineering background, including at least one to two years dedicated to shipping Generative AI and LLM solutions into production environments, underpinned by a deep conceptual understanding of the underlying AI technologies rather than just surface-level tool adoption
• You hold a master’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or a related field
• Advanced programming skills in Python (or TypeScript/Java), with the ability to maintain rigorous codebases
• Practical expertise with current GenAI orchestration frameworks and vector databases, allowing you to critically evaluate the architectural fit and technical costs of competing solutions
• A deep grasp of core software engineering principles, encompassing testing, version control, and CI/CD workflows
• Excellent communication skills with the capacity to clearly explain technical model behaviors, architectural trade-offs, and cost implications to various stakeholders
• You are a pragmatic, delivery-focused "doer" who thrives on executing against an existing strategic roadmap. You take pride in maintaining and evolving the products you build over time, rather than reinventing the wheel or abandoning solutions post-launch
• You are fluent in English, other languages are a plus
• Experience in SaaS products or enterprise software is a plus
