    Job Description

    The Server position is responsible for performing such services as the preparation, and/or serving of food and drinks in a restaurant setting.

    This position will support the Land’s End Resort, a 117-room hotel, in Homer, AK.

    Responsibilities

    • Promptly greets guest and takes their order.
    • Presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service.
    • Follows TAPS ID verification and training guidelines.
    • Ability to enter orders into POS (Point of Sale) system.
    • Relays order to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and service bars.
    • Serves drinks such as wine, beer, and cocktails to guests.
    • Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.
    • Serves food items to assigned tables in manner it was ordered.
    • Totals up bills and accepts payments or refers patron to cashier.
    • Promptly clears and resets guest areas at conclusion of each course or service.
    • Ensure food stations are stocked according to checklists.
    • Break down service stations and cleans equipment.
    • This position is not responsible for the supervision of staff.
    • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success may also be assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Must be 21 years of age or older to serve and prepare alcohol.
    • At least six (6) months of server experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting.
    • Must have Training for Alcohol Professionals (TAP) certification contingent upon 30 days of hire.
    • Municipality of Alaska Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certification contingent upon 30 days of hire.
    • Observes grooming, customer service, and uniform/ dress standards.
    • Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Preference will be given to the candidate with a minimum of one (1) years of consecutive employment in a similar operation with comparable responsibilities.

    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

    Weather: Indoors: environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.

    Noise level: Moderate to loud.

    Description of environment: This is a commercial kitchen in a hotel setting.

    Physical requirements: Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
