Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

Collaborates with the surgical team, providing and utilizing a variety of anesthetics for medical and surgical procedures.Cares for the patient during the course of the anesthetic including preoperative assessment, administration and maintenance, and recovery.

Essential Functions:

• Performs a preoperative assessment/chart review of the patient to formulate an anesthetic plan according to the individual needs of the patient.
• Responds appropriately to any significant physiological, anesthesia changes and treats accordingly, informing the staff anesthesiologist when appropriate. Provides for optimum resuscitative care for life threatening conditions and/or emergent situations in the hospital.
• Assists with orientation of new CRNA staff and with the orientation and instruction of student nurse anesthetists and other anesthesia personnel.
• Participates in research projects as directed; implements anesthesia practice changes based on research findings and current standards by demonstrating the use of accepted anesthesia technology and pharmacology.
• Demonstrates professional and ethical conduct and compassion in all patient interactions and demonstrates respect and concern for all members of the healthcare team.

Education Requirement:

• Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing, required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nurse anesthesia with eligibility for membership with the AANA and completion of the NBCRNA national examination, required.

Licensure Requirement:

RN in the State of Ohio, APN in the state of Ohio, required.

Certifications:

• ACLS and BLS, required.
• PALS certification within 12 months of hire, required.

Skills:

Skilled in Providing Anesthesia.

Experience:

New graduates acceptable.
