Overview
The Job in a Nutshell:
The Maintenance Repairs Technician position is responsible for developing and performing preventative and corrective maintenance on bulk bagging production equipment at the Natural Grocers Distribution Center. This position is also responsible for timely repairs to equipment during processing; and, general warehouse repairs and maintenance. This position is scheduled Monday through Friday and may include some holidays.
Responsibilities
Main Ingredients:
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on production equipment, including augers and vibrating scale equipmentMaintain preventive maintenance program for all production equipment, to be in compliance with Food Safety guidelines and Good Manufacturing practicesPerform preventive maintenance on warehouse equipment as neededRecommend spare parts to support production and warehouse equipment; maintain parts inventory to meet production needsInspect mechanical systems, equipment and components to identify and correct any hazards or defectsParticipate in dismantling, relocating and re-assembly of equipment as necessary to accommodate business growthTest equipment and machinery to verify repairs and ensure safe and efficient operationRepair and maintain all conveyor belt systemsPerform pneumatic and hydraulic systems installation and repairsMaintain filters and belts on all RTU’s and air compressorsProvide training and guidance to machine operators as neededManage on-site maintenance vendors that work at the DCCarry out minor repairs in DC including changing light fixtures, changing bulbs, patching drywall, mounting racks on walls, changing out plumbing fixtures, etc.Fabricate minor parts for production or warehouse, such as machine guardsProvide timely repair service to production operations to keep equipment runningCreate clear, accurate, complete and timely documentation of work ordersMaintain a work environment that is clean and safeWork closely with vendors to ensure projects are completed efficiently and accurately, including repairs, machining, welding, fabrication, rebuilds, etc.Although this is a general outline of job responsibilities all employees are expected to be “hands on” and do whatever it takes to get the job done and make the company thrive.
Qualifications
Recipe for Success:
Minimum 5 years of experience as repairs/maintenance technician in an automated industrial production facility, conducting preventive maintenance and repairs. Experience with auger and vibrating scale systems preferred.Must have Forklift/ Powered Pallet Jack Operator certification which must be kept current for this positionExperience in a food manufacturing environment with an understanding of GMP’s, HACCP and Food Safety preferredAbility to understand and work on DC voltage requiredAbility to diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues requiredPossesses basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical and fabrication knowledgeAbility to provide installation and repair techniques for piping systems (water, air)Possess industrial safety, machine safety and safeguarding techniquesKnowledge of PLC systems a plusAbility to work with minimal supervision and take the initiative to get assigned work done efficiently and effectively and in a timely mannerAbility to prioritize tasks and communicate with management on progressStrong attention to details and getting the work done right the first timeAbility to work with a diverse group and provide leadership in the maintenance areaMust have valid CO driver’s licenseMust be a non-smoker; NGVC is a health food company with a non-smoking policyThis job description is not an employment contract. Must be able to work occasionally with cold, heat, sharp tools and equipment, noise, contact stress, dust, fumes, and congested worksite.
