    Job title: Africa Economic Analyst

    Location: Accra, Ghana

    Team: Regional Programs

    Reports to: Ghana Country Manager

    Matrix Reporting: Senior Economic Analyst

    Starting Salary: $34,236 (USD) gross per annum. NRGI offers generous benefits including health insurance, a 10% employer pension contribution and extensive leave, in addition to two weeks of annual office closure.

    About the Role

    NRGI is seeking an experienced Africa Economic Analyst to join our Ghana program and contribute to our wider regional work.

    The Africa Economic Analyst will play an important role in advancing NRGI's analytical and policy work on natural resource governance in Ghana, while contributing to selected regional initiatives across Africa. The successful candidate will lead and contribute to economic and policy analysis that informs capacity development, policy reform and advocacy. The role will focus particularly on revenue management and optimal revenue utilization, oil and gas, mining and minerals, energy transition and transition minerals, tracking relevant developments at global, regional, national and subnational levels.

    Working closely with the Ghana Country Manager, regional colleagues, NRGI's Legal and Economics team and other teams across the organization, the Africa Economic Analyst will generate research, data and analysis, provide technical assistance and policy advice, and contribute to improved natural resource governance in Ghana and across the region.

    Key Responsibilities

    · Conduct strategic economic research and quantitative and qualitative analysis on extractives governance, energy transition, transition minerals and revenue management.

    · Develop and adapt economic and financial models and synthesize complex datasets relating to mines, minerals and project economics.

    · Produce high-quality research findings, policy briefs, blogs, opinion pieces and other thought-leadership outputs.

    · Provide economic analysis, policy advice and technical assistance to support Ghana program strategy and implementation, while contributing to relevant regional work.

    · Design and deliver technical assistance, training, workshops, conferences and stakeholder dialogues.

    · Manage projects, consultants, budgets, timelines, reporting and monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) activities.

    · Contribute to funding proposals, donor engagement and compliance with donor requirements.

    · Build and maintain relationships with government, national institutions, civil society, development partners, media, women and youth groups, the private sector and other key stakeholders.

    · Support advocacy and communications strategies and communicate research findings to diverse audiences.

    · Represent NRGI at relevant conferences, events, networking opportunities and policy forums.

    Experience & Technical Skills

    · A minimum of five years' experience working as an economic analyst in international development.

    · At least two years' experience working on extractive industry governance in Ghana, together with experience in at least one of the following areas: public financial management, taxation, micro-economic issues, state-owned enterprise management, energy transition, transition minerals or related fields.

    · Working knowledge of the extractives sector policy context at the regional/Africa level.

    · Excellent quantitative analysis skills, including experience synthesizing datasets from multiple sources and supporting strategic analysis and interpretation.

    · Experience working with government and non-state actors on development policy issues in Ghana.

    · Experience providing practical technical assistance on policy or research issues to decision makers.

    · Experience delivering training and other capacity-development interventions to diverse stakeholders.

    · Strong strategic and conceptual thinking skills, including the ability to think with a 2–3-year horizon.

    · Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment and work effectively as part of a team.

    · Experience working in complex or pioneering environments and supporting opportunities for systemic change.

    · Work experience in Ghana is essential, alongside some working knowledge and experience in Africa.

    · Excellent written and spoken French and professional proficiency in English.

    Education

    A master's degree in economics or a related field is required.
