    Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist and Bone Marrow Transplant Physician

    Job description

    We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (BMT/CT) Physician to join our growing multidisciplinary program. The ideal candidate will possess training and expertise in the diagnosis and management of children, adolescents, and young adults undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, cellular therapies, and gene therapy for malignant and non-malignant disorders.

    The cellular therapies team currently consists of a full-time physician, nurse practitioner, three nurse coordinators, social worker, and dietician. The program is a collaborative program with Mayo Clinic Jacksonville that provides the cell therapy lab and opportunity for collaboration with physicians at the Mayo Clinic. The recently remodeled outpatient clinic contains isolation exam rooms for cellular therapies patients and an infusion space.  The hepa-filtered inpatient unit at Wolfson Children’s Hospital is staffed by BMT training nurses with all ancillary and consultative services need. Wolfson Children’s Hospital is the largest pediatric specialty hospital in Florida with broad support from the state and community philanthropic organizations.  We are also a qualified treatment center for gene therapy for sickle cell disease.

    This physician will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes pediatric oncologists, transplant specialists, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and research professionals. Opportunities exist to participate in clinical and translational research, quality improvement initiatives, and the education of medical students, residents, and fellows.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide expert clinical care for pediatric patients undergoing all types of cellular therapies.
    • Deliver inpatient and outpatient care across the continuum of transplant treatment, including pre-transplant evaluation, transplant management, and long-term survivorship follow-up.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary clinics and collaborative care conferences.
    • Contribute to the development and growth of the Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy program.
    • Collaborate with clinical research teams and participate in institutional, cooperative group, translational, and clinical research initiatives.
    • Engage in quality, safety, and process improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes.
    • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Participate in call coverage and other departmental responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • M.D., D.O., or equivalent medical degree.
    • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
    • Additional training or experience in Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy.
    • Eligibility for Florida medical license

    Preferred

    • Participation in clinical, translational, or outcomes-based research.
    • Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and communication skills.
