Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities Management, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for the overall maintenance (interior/exterior of the Dutchess/Ulster residences, supported sites and Administrative Offices).
Schedule is Monday thru Friday 7am-3:30pm. Some flexibility may be needed on occasions.

Essential skills and Experience:
- Prior experience performing maintenance work/equipment repair and the ability to engage in physical activity associated with successful performance of maintenance work/ equipment repair.
- Skills in the area of grounds maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical.
- Working knowledge of tools and machinery.
- Prepare and submit documentation of routine maintenance projects as needed.
- Preventative Maintenance Planning- assessment and action to complete any task which is identified to improve safety or homelike atmosphere of each residence. Examples would include repair of chairs, tables, curtain rods, etc. and review of safety reports.
- Ability to coordinate necessary outside services.
- Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with others including the individuals served, staff and outside service providers.
- Ability to represent NHR in a professional manner when dealing with outside contractors and other members of the broader community.
- Ability to use sound judgment while following agency policies, practices and procedures.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English which allows full communication and participation with agency staff and government visitors.
- Possess a high school graduate ( or equivalent) and three years evaluated experience in the maintenance field.
- Possess a valid driver license with a driving record acceptable to NHR’s insurance carrier and possess the ability to drive agency vehicles.
- Successful completion of pertinent New Horizon Resources agency training. (Specifically, you are required to complete NHR orientation, first Aid, CPR, Rights & Abuse, Corporate Compliance and Defensive Driving classes.)
Nonessential Skills and Experience:
- Computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office applications

- This position will at times require an employee to provide emergency coverage including holidays and weekends.
