Purpose / Role
To provide hands-on civil engineering and technical support for the planning, coordination, supervision and delivery of Nigerdock infrastructure projects.
Key Aims and Objectives
- Support safe, timely, and quality delivery of projects in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
- Provide day-to-day technical coordination across projects and maintain appropriate engineering drawings and technical records through project close-out.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and update AutoCAD drawings, layouts, details, and as-built drawings.
- Undertake minor civil/structural design and detailing; major and specialist design to be undertaken by appointed consultants.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and technical submissions.
- Provide site supervision and technical support for roads, drainage, fencing, buildings, structural repairs, waterfront, and other infrastructure works.
- Monitor works against approved drawings, specifications, programs, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate contractors and follow up technical/site actions.
- Carry out site inspections, measurements, and basic engineering assessments.
- Raise and coordinate technical queries and resolve site engineering issues.
- Review technical aspects of contractor method statements and construction methodologies.
- Review relevant material inspections and test results.
- Support project planning, progress monitoring, and reporting.
- Maintain technical records and close-out/as-built documentation.
- Liaise with the QS, surveyors, and other specialist service providers as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree/HND in civil engineering or a related discipline; a master's degree will be an added advantage.
- 5–7 years' relevant experience in civil engineering, construction, or infrastructure projects.
- Minimum 4 years' experience with an engineering consultancy/design firm, with demonstrated involvement in civil/structural design, detailing, and preparation of engineering drawings.
- Strong practical experience in site supervision and coordination of civil works.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential, including preparation and modification of engineering drawings.
- Ability to read, interpret, and review civil/structural construction drawings.
- Practical experience in civil/structural design and detailing.
- Experience in roads, drainage, buildings, concrete works, fencing, and general infrastructure is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and MS Project.
