Schedule: Per Diem (evenings and weekends as needed)

Target Rate: $21.00 Hourly

Job Summary

An amazing new opportunity has come up in our Parcels Store! We are looking for a Per Diem Sales Associate to join our team in Danvers, Massachusetts.

The Sales Associate is responsible for providing outstanding customer service while creating a welcoming and engaging shopping experience for customers. This position supports the daily operations of the Parcels Store by assisting customers with merchandise selection, maintaining an organized and well-stocked sales floor, accurately processing transactions, and helping promote Northeast Arc's mission within the community.

The ideal candidate is dependable, customer-focused, and comfortable working independently. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, flexibility, and a commitment to creating an inclusive environment that welcomes all customers.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellence in customer service by greeting customers, supporting shopping needs, and recommending items for purchase.
• Creates and maintains a positive, welcoming, and inclusive environment for customers.
• Organizes merchandise displays and replenishes sales floor inventory from the stock room as needed.
• Utilizes basic sales techniques to engage customers and present solutions that meet their needs.
• Processes cash and point-of-sale (POS) transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Monitors and protects store merchandise while maintaining awareness of store activity.
• Understands Northeast Arc's mission and values and directs customers and community members to appropriate staff resources when needed.
• Serves as a key holder and is responsible for opening, closing, and securing the store.
• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a retail or sales environment preferred, or a willingness to learn.
• Commitment to supporting the full inclusion of people with disabilities.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Reliable, dependable, and self-motivated.
• Strong customer service orientation with the ability to engage customers and understand their needs.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in handling transactions and merchandising tasks.
• Basic understanding of POS systems and cash handling procedures.
• Ability to problem solve and exercise sound judgment in a retail setting.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands

Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Frequent bending, reaching, and movement throughout the store. Ability to lift, carry, and move packages and merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

Retail storefront environment with frequent customer interaction. Work is primarily performed in the sales floor and stock room areas and may require opening and closing responsibilities. Position involves working independently, maintaining store security, and creating a positive shopping experience for customers and community members.
