    Job description

    Overview

    The Trauma Registrar 1 maintains the Trauma Registry and is responsible for ensuring NAH remains compliant with all data standards as they relate to the American College of Surgeons (ACS), The National Trauma Database (NTDB) and the State of Arizona. Trauma Registrar participates in research and/or statistical activities for the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Program Director or Medical Director.

    Responsibilities

    Data Integrity* Demonstrates knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding system.

    * Demonstrates knowledge and utilization of medical terminology.

    * Independently researches and solves complex coding (ICD 10 CM, E-Codes, and AIS 2005) problems.

    * Serves as an expert resource to staff regarding abstracting, coding, departmental procedures and Trauma Registry Software updates, report writing, generating, and interpretation.

    Administrative* Ensures accuracy of auditing, medical coding, trauma registry data.

    * Collects and submits trauma registry data for trauma patients.

    * Demonstrates the ability to create forms, reports, graphs and tables.

    * Performs office tasks associated with day to day operations of Trauma Services.

    Compliance/Safety* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.

    * Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.

    * If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.

    * Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.

    Qualifications

    High School Diploma or GED- Required

    Associate's Degree- Preferred

    Trauma Registrar 1:Completion of AAAM’s Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) Course-Required within 6-12 months of hireCompletion of Trauma ICD-10 coding course-Required within 6-12 months of hireCompletion of Trauma Registry Course-Required within 6-12 months of hire.Completed course-work in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology- RequiredCertified Trauma Registrar (CSTR) by the American Trauma Society- Preferred

    Trauma Registrar 1:Healthcare Experience - PreferredHealthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
