About the Role
Northpower is looking for an experienced Cable Jointer to join our Contracting division. This is a hands-on role where you'll be working on essential electricity infrastructure projects, installing, maintaining, and repairing underground electrical distribution networks up to 33kV.

You'll be part of a skilled and supportive team delivering work across a variety of sites, helping keep communities and businesses connected. This role offers plenty of variety, opportunities to develop your expertise, and the chance to work on critical projects that make a real difference.

Key responsibilities include:
- Installing, replacing, and repairing underground electrical distribution assets
- Carrying out cable jointing and terminations up to and including 33kV
- Operating electrical equipment and assisting with excavation and site reinstatement
- Diagnosing faults and solving technical issues in the field
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and PPE to a high standard
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards
- Building strong relationships with customers, clients, and team members
- Participating in the after-hours standby roster

About You
You're an NZ qualified Cable Jointer who takes pride in delivering quality work, putting safety first, and being a reliable team player. You enjoy working outdoors, solving problems, and contributing to projects that keep New Zealand's power networks running.

To be successful, you'll have:
- NZ Electrical Registration (EWRB) and a current practising licence
- A Full Class 2 New Zealand Driver Licence
- Preferred two years post-qualification cable jointing experience
- Experience working on underground distribution networks, including 400V, 11KV & 22KV
- Excavation experience (advantageous but not essential)
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and quality workmanship
- A proactive, safety-focused mindset
- Good communication skills and a collaborative approach
