Trainee Electrical Fitter

About the Role
Ready to kick-start your career in the electrical industry? We're looking for a motivated Trainee Electrical Fitter to join our team and learn the skills required to construct, install, and maintain electrical equipment in a substation environment.
Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll receive hands-on training while contributing to the delivery of safe, high-quality work across our network. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop practical skills, gain industry experience, and build a long-term career in the electricity sector.

In this role, you'll:
- Assist with electrical fitting and maintenance work under supervision.
- Learn how to safely work on network and substation equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.
- Assist with working at height activities, including using access equipment and following safe work procedures.
- Work collaboratively with team members, project managers, and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to delivering excellent outcomes for customers and clients.
- Take ownership of your development by actively participating in training and learning opportunities.
- Uphold Northpower's safety, quality, and environmental standards at all times.

About You
We're looking for someone who is keen to learn, enjoys working with their hands, and is committed to building a career in the electrical industry.

You'll bring:
- A current NZ Class 1 Driver Licence.
- A strong focus on health and safety.
- Good problem-solving and logical thinking skills.
- A solid foundation in maths, including measurements, calculations, and problem-solving.
- An interest in mechanics, electronics, or electrical systems.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- The physical capability to work in a hands-on field-based environment.
Previous experience with electrical or network distribution equipment would be an advantage, but it's not essential. What matters most is your willingness to learn, develop new skills, and contribute positively to the team.
