NorthStar Earth Information & Intelligence (EI²) utilise des données d'observation de la Terre multimodales (hyperspectral, thermal, SAR) comme éléments de base pour créer des services d'information adaptés aux besoins et aux exigences des clients, du gouvernement et de l'industrie. Le portefeuille de développement de NorthStar comprend des algorithmes de traitement d'images et d'extraction d'information pour une variété d'applications en foresterie, agriculture, milieux marins et côtiers, et énergie. Nous recherchons un développeur ou une développeuse logiciel sénior pour faire évoluer notre pipeline de traitement d'images vers de nouveaux cas d'usage. Entrée en poste prévue idéalement le 1er novembre 2026.

Le poste

Tu serais le ou la développeur.se principal.e de cette nouvelle phase du pipeline, en collaboration directe avec une équipe de scientifiques et data scientists, ainsi qu'un spécialiste infrastructure/plateforme. Tu feras partie de l'équipe de développement NorthStar, avec accès au support et à l'expertise du reste de l'équipe, tout en ayant un ownership clair sur ce projet. Le poste relève directement du directeur logiciel.

Tes responsabilités

Nous comptons sur toi pour :

• Faire évoluer le pipeline de traitement d'images existant pour supporter de nouveaux algorithmes et volumes de données.
• Travailler étroitement avec les scientifiques et data scientists pour traduire leurs besoins en solutions techniques.
• Déployer des workflows pour le traitement automatisé et à la demande des données satellitaires.
• Participer aux discussions techniques, revues de conception et revues de code.
• Créer et maintenir la documentation technique.
• Contribuer aux décisions d'architecture en collaboration avec l'équipe.

Ton profil

• Au moins 5 ans d'expérience en développement logiciel.
• Baccalauréat ou maîtrise en informatique, génie logiciel, mathématiques, physique ou équivalent.
• Expérience démontrée avec Python.
• Expérience avec Kubernetes et les environnements Cloud.
• Expérience avec l'orchestration de workflows (Argo Workflows ou équivalent).
• Expérience dans la livraison de systèmes de traitement de données.
• Bonne connaissance des outils CI/CD.
• Capacité à prendre des décisions techniques de façon autonome.
• À l'aise de travailler dans un environnement multidisciplinaire avec des scientifiques.
• Capacité à travailler en anglais et en français.

Atouts

• Expérience en traitement d'images ou données géospatiales.
• Familiarité avec les pipelines de données à grande échelle.
• Expérience avec React et/ou d'autres frameworks front-end.
• Expérience avec les pipelines ML et les librairies ML (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.).

About NorthStar

NorthStar Earth Information & Intelligence (EI²) uses multimodal Earth observation data (hyperspectral, thermal, SAR) as building blocks to create information services tailored to the needs and requirements of government and industry clients. NorthStar's development portfolio includes image processing and information extraction algorithms for a variety of applications in forestry, agriculture, marine and coastal environments, and energy.
We are looking for a Senior Software Developer to evolve our image processing pipeline toward new use cases. Expected start date: November 1st, 2026.

The role

You would be the principal developer dedicated to this new phase of the pipeline, working directly with a team of scientists and data scientists, along with an infrastructure/platform specialist. You'll be part of the NorthStar development team, with access to the support and expertise of the broader team, while having clear ownership over this project. The position reports directly to the Director of Software.

Your responsibilities

We're counting on you to:

• Evolve the existing image processing pipeline to support new algorithms and data volumes.
• Work closely with scientists and data scientists to translate their needs into technical solutions.
• Deploy workflows for automated and on-demand satellite data processing.
• Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.
• Contribute to architecture decisions in collaboration with the team.

Your profile

• At least 5 years of software development experience.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience with Python.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud environments.
• Experience with workflow orchestration (Argo Workflows or equivalent).
• Experience delivering data processing systems.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools.
• Ability to make technical decisions autonomously.
• Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary environment with scientists.
• Ability to work in English and French.

Assets

• Experience in image processing or geospatial data.
• Familiarity with large-scale data pipelines.
• Experience with React and/or other front-end frameworks.
• Experience with ML pipelines and ML libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.).
