The Hospitalist Medicine Service (HMS) at the QEII Health Sciences Center in Halifax is seeking hospitalists to provide full time coverage. The QEII functions as community hospital for Halifax and the tertiary/quaternary care center for Nova Scotia and the Atlantic provinces. The HMS covers approximately 170 beds at the QEII across both the Halifax Infirmary and Victoria General sites. Remuneration is daily provincial rate; night call is via stipend.

HMS offers a team approach to inpatient care. We seek hospitalists who will model excellence in general medical care, have superb communication skills with patients and families, and who work well in team settings.
Located in the heart of Halifax, Nova Scotia, the QEII Health Sciences Centre is the largest adult academic health sciences centre in Atlantic Canada. As part of Nova Scotia Health’s Central Zone, the QEII provides advanced care to patients from across the province and beyond. The centre is a major referral site offering a broad range of tertiary and quaternary care services, and is home to specialized programs in areas such as cancer care, cardiology, neurosurgery, organ transplantation, and trauma services.
The QEII is comprised of multiple sites, including the Halifax Infirmary and Victoria General campuses, which together house more than 1,100 inpatient beds, state-of-the-art operating rooms, and cutting-edge diagnostic and treatment facilities. The centre also features the province’s only Level 1 trauma centre and is a hub for critical care and emergency services.
As a key teaching hospital affiliated with Dalhousie University, the QEII plays an integral role in the training of medical students, residents, and fellows. It is also a leader in clinical research and innovation, supporting numerous research institutes and interdisciplinary collaborations aimed at improving patient outcomes and advancing the future of healthcare.
