Manager – Projects Surface Processing Infrastructure

OceanaGold’s Haile Gold Mine is seeking an experienced Manager – Projects Surface Processing Infrastructure to lead the planning, design, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness of major surface processing infrastructure projects.
You will have the opportunity to influence major project outcomes while working alongside internal stakeholders, engineering and construction partners, contractors, suppliers, and operational teams to deliver infrastructure that supports Haile Gold Mine’s operational performance and life-of-mine objectives.

This is a 2-year fixed-term position, providing an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in the delivery of the Paste Plant, Leach Circuit upgrade, and associated surface processing infrastructure at Haile Gold Mine.
This position will be accountable for safely progressing projects from feasibility and design through construction, commissioning, and transition into operations. The successful candidate will provide strong project leadership while ensuring scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, risk, and stakeholder requirements are effectively managed.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead the safe, timely, and effective delivery of the Paste Plant, Leach Circuit upgrade, and associated surface processing infrastructure projects.
• Develop and oversee Project Execution Plans, ensuring clear scope, milestones, deliverables, governance, and accountability.
• Manage projects through the full lifecycle, from feasibility and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, operational readiness, and close-out.
• Lead and coordinate contractors, consultants, suppliers, vendors, and internal project resources.
• Maintain effective project controls covering schedule, cost, procurement, change management, risk, quality, and progress reporting.
• Oversee contractor selection, tendering, contract award, and contract management for assigned work packages.
• Monitor project schedules, critical path activities, milestones, interfaces, and recovery actions.
• Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, cost estimates, commitments, and variance reporting.
• Identify and manage project risks and opportunities across safety, environmental, technical, schedule, cost, quality, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness.
• Review engineering designs and technical work packages to ensure they are fit for purpose, constructable, maintainable, and aligned with operational requirements.
• Lead the resolution of complex technical, design interface, and constructability issues.
• Establish and maintain appropriate quality processes throughout design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, and handover.
• Lead operational readiness activities, including handover planning, documentation, training requirements, commissioning support, and transition to operational ownership.
• Provide accurate and timely reporting to the Asset President, project governance forums, operational teams, and key stakeholders.
• Lead, coach, and support project team members while establishing clear expectations for contractors, consultants, and project partners.
• Promote a collaborative culture focused on safety, accountability, communication, continuous improvement, and successful project delivery.

• A degree in Engineering or a related discipline, such as Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• 15+ years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a senior role delivering large projects.
• Previous management experience is required.
• Demonstrated experience managing projects from inception through construction, commissioning, and close-out.
• Experience working in both project start-up and operating environments.
• Strong experience in project risk management and mitigation.
• Experience with surface processing infrastructure project development and project controls.
• Strong understanding of project scheduling, cost management, procurement, contract management, quality, and risk.
• Recognized formal project management qualifications will be highly regarded.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong planning, organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and resolve issues affecting project delivery.
• A collaborative leadership style with the ability to build effective relationships across internal teams, contractors, consultants, and external stakeholders.
• A hands-on approach to managing people, contractors, and projects.
• Ability to work effectively across diverse and cross-functional teams.
• Strong computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft products.
• Valid driver’s license.
