Position Overview:
IV Pharmacy Technicians, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, provide IV medication and other health care products to patients through sterile compounding processes and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work under the direction of Pharmacist and Lead Pharmacy IV Technician.
- Strictly follow SOPs and USP797 to prepare IV medications.
- Make requisitions for drugs and supplies with professional guidance from the pharmacists.
- Receive and maintain inventory of drugs and ensure their security.
- Enter medication orders into pharmacy operating system.
- Clean and maintain cleanroom per USP797 and SOPs.
- Maintain records of compounding, daily temps, and cleaning logs.
- Verify that information on the prescription is complete and accurate.
- Print prescription labels and package prescriptions according to Long Term Care policy standards.
- Perform other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.
Qualifications:
- Must be an Ohio licensed Certified Pharmacy Technician.
- Working knowledge of USP797 guidelines for training, compounding of medications, and cleaning and monitoring cleanroom.
- Previous Long-Term Care pharmacy experience a plus (but not required).
- Knowledge of FrameworkLTC a plus (but not required).
