    Job description

    Ohio Heartland Community Action Commission is a drug-free employer. Drug testing of both current staff and new hires will be conducted. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of Driver’s Record Check, Criminal Background Check, Drug Test, and Employment References.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Work in various OHCAC programs arranging for necessary maintenance and repair of fixtures and equipment. 
    2. Deliver Inter Office Mail.
    3. Clean and maintain buildings.
    4. Perform scheduled maintenance at program sites.
    5. Ability to follow through on maintenance goals as defined.
    6. Ability to work independently and assume additional duties assigned by immediate supervisor as necessary.
    7. Perform duties including requesting purchase orders, working with managers to obtain professional building assistance – for example: plumbing, electrical, roofing, etc.
    8. Oversee maintenance of necessary building materials, light bulbs, cleaning supplies, etc.
    9. Assess maintenance situations, if necessary consult with Fiscal Office Manager, and make recommendations regarding appropriate action.
    10. Perform regular yard work including mowing and trimming, snow shoveling, and salting as appropriate of OHCAC sites as directed by immediate supervisor.
    11. Assemble equipment and furniture as needed and authorized by immediate supervisor.
    12. Act as a substitute food service driver or mail courier as needed
    13. Adhere to and report safety concerns.
    14. Maintain a safe environment while performing duties.

    NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1.     Participate in non-required workshops, education, and training opportunities within when possible for  personal and professional growth.

    2.     Participate in a team process both within the department and the corporation.

    3.     Attend any required internal and external trainings or meetings.

    4.     Demonstrate ability and flexibility to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities when asked.

    5.     Demonstrate ability to be an independent worker and have good organizational and time management skills.

    6.     Maintain a safe driving record and have reliable transportation.

    7.     Required to report any driving violations.

    8.     Drug and alcohol testing to be conducted as required by OHCAC and funding source.

    9.     State and federal criminal checks to be conducted as required by funding source and OHCAC.

    10.   Adhere to all OHCAC Personnel and Procedures and all written agency policies.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    1.     The General Maintenance Technician is accountable for the above essential functions to the OHCAC Deputy Director.    

    1.     High school diploma or GED required.

    2.     Ability to perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance.

    3.     Proven ability to work without direct supervision.

    4.     Required to be able to lift and carry or move up to 50 pounds on a daily basis.

    5.     Must respect and maintain absolute confidentiality.

    6.     Fluent knowledge of the English language – both verbal and written. Acceptable communication skills to perform maintenance duties.

    7.     Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; hear; and smell.  The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee is required to climb and to balance.

    8.    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

    9.     Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals preferred.

    10.   Ability to compute rates, ratios, and/or percentages preferred.

    11.   Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions preferred.

    12.   Must have a valid driver's license and carry up-to-date vehicle insurance to be permitted to drive on agency premises or while conducting agency business.

    13.   Must have ready access to a drivable vehicle and maintain personal vehicle in a clean and safe working condition.

    14.   Must be bondable.

    15.   Must be flexible to work at various locations within a four-county area.

    16.   Ability to relate positively to different types of people.

    17.   Must show courtesy and respect to staff and customers at all times. 

    Ohio Heartland Community Action Commission has in effect a clean air/smoking/tobacco use policy which prohibits smoking or use of tobacco products in all offices and on or in any agency owned or agency occupied properties or vehicles. This policy applies to ALL Ohio Heartland Community Action Commission staff, regardless of program.
