Job description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Data Engineer. In this role, you will provide technical leadership and architectural guidance while developing innovative solutions that enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. Working in a supportive, multi-functional environment, you will design and implement sophisticated solutions for our RnD users and processes. You will support the growth of other engineers, drive adoption of best practices, and help shape the technical direction of critical projects. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced technologies while contributing to groundbreaking scientific discoveries. The role is based in our Uppsala office.

A Day in the Life:

• Build and operate on PSX analytical data processing platform in AWS
• Design and build a robust foundation for data pipelines
• Take ownership for the platform architecture, infrastructure and longevity
• Be part of our solution design group and collaborate with other dev leads (Software & AI Data Science) to secure the best designs and architecture and ensure our tooling eco system is future proof
• Support less senior team members, foster best practices and set high standards.
• Be opportunistiskt, identify and suggest solutions for potential challenges such as performance, scalability, cost and security
• Represent the team in technical and complex cross functional matters

Requirements:

• Master of Science in Molecular Biotechnology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
• Several years of working experience, Life Science experience is a plus.
• Strong experience building analytical data & analytics platforms in cloud environments (AWS knowledge or willingness to learn AWS is required)
• Strong verbal and presentational skills
• Strong Python or C# programming skills
• Knowledgeable in infrastructure-as-code (CDK/Terraform).
• Experience working with Iceberg, versioning etc.
• A product-oriented mindset, focused on building durable, scalable solutions rather than one-off pipelines.
• Experience in Ops/Observability, i.e building monitoring solutions.
