Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic (KOC) is seeking a skilled, patient-focused X-Ray Tech to join our Imaging team. This position performs diagnostic radiographic examinations while working closely with physicians and clinical Team Members to support timely diagnosis and high-quality orthopaedic care.
As an X-Ray Tech, you will prepare and position patients, perform ordered radiographic examinations, evaluate images for diagnostic quality, and maintain accurate imaging documentation. You will also play an important role in creating a safe and comfortable experience for patients while supporting an efficient imaging workflow.
The ideal candidate combines strong radiographic skills with excellent attention to detail, communication, and patient service and is comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations according to provider orders and established imaging protocols.
Review imaging orders for completeness, clinical indication, laterality, and required views.
Verify patient identity, explain procedures, obtain relevant patient history, and confirm applicable safety considerations.
Accurately position patients and imaging equipment to obtain high-quality orthopaedic radiographs.
Select appropriate technical factors and follow established radiation-protection practices consistent with ALARA principles.
Evaluate images for positioning, anatomy, exposure, artifacts, and overall diagnostic quality.
Enter, label, transmit, and reconcile images and examination information accurately within applicable imaging and electronic health record systems.
Assist patients safely on and off imaging equipment and use appropriate transfer techniques and additional assistance when necessary.
Communicate urgent concerns, technically limited examinations, or other issues to the appropriate provider or leader.
Perform routine equipment checks and promptly report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.
Maintain clean, organized, and appropriately stocked imaging rooms.
Follow infection-prevention, radiation-safety, patient-privacy, and emergency-response procedures.
Collaborate with clinical and scheduling Team Members to support patient flow, add-on studies, delays, and special accommodation needs.
Maintain required licensure, registration, competencies, and continuing education.
Participate in quality-assurance activities, cross-training, team meetings, and special projects.
Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program.
Current Tennessee radiologic technologist license, or eligibility to obtain licensure before performing independent radiographic examinations.
Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiography, or eligibility consistent with KOC requirements.
Knowledge of radiographic positioning, image evaluation, radiation protection, infection prevention, and safe patient-handling practices.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to image quality and patient safety.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, and customer-service skills.
Ability to work effectively with patients, physicians, and other clinical Team Members in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to use imaging, electronic health record, and practice-management systems and maintain accurate documentation.
Associate or bachelor's degree in radiologic technology or a related field.
Previous experience performing orthopaedic radiography in a physician practice, urgent care, hospital, or other high-volume clinical environment.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience with digital radiography, PACS, and applicable quality-control processes.
