Position: Counselor
The Counselor is responsible for the delivery and implementation of clinical series to a population of individuals who experience substance misuse and symptoms of mental health disorders. The Counselor serves as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and reports to the Program Coordinator, Assistant Director, or Director.
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Essential Duties:
- Provide individual sessions consistent with client need, person-centered care, and best practices.
- Facilitate group sessions related to various topics including but not limited to: substance use, relapse prevention, trauma, life skills, stages of change, etc.
- Document all service delivery in the EHR promptly and consistent with insurance and stakeholder standards.
- Ensure that 70% of work hours are spent providing services.
- Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, as well as individual and group supervision.
- Deescalate client crises when appropriate and report all incidents to site managers.
- Complete toxicology testing consistent with OASAS and Outreach policies.
- Attend speaking engagements or tabling events.
- Maintain training appropriate to role and credential/licensure.
- Based on credential/licensure, the counselor may supervise interns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum CASAC-T, CASAC or MSW/MHC/MFT/CAT eligible for limited permit, or a fully licensed clinician.
- 2-3 years of experience with substance use disorders.
- 1-2 years of experience working with individuals diagnosed with co-occurring disorders.
- 1-2 years of experience working in an OASAS-licensed facility a plus.
