Pace University is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach one section of “Introduction to Social Work" in Spring semester, 2027, which runs from January 25, 2027-May 14, 2027.
The class will meet for 180 minutes per week (1 x per week or 2 x 85-minute slots), with the time slot to be scheduled in consultation with the newly-hired instructor. A successful candidate will be able to convey the founding principles and ethical considerations in social work, discuss contemporary social work practice, and engage contemporary debates in the field of social work. Because this course is also part of our Urban Studies curriculum and minor, addressing social work practice in an urban setting is also highly desired. Candidates should also be comfortable utilizing Pace University’s LMS, Brightspace/D2L.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction: Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction for assigned course(s) in accordance with course syllabi and institutional standards.
The successful candidate will hold the terminal degree (MSW or PhD) in Social Work, and ideally will be a practitioner currently employed as a social worker.
