The Department of Environmental Studies and Science (ESS) is seeking an enthusiastic undergraduate student assistant to support departmental events and social media efforts on the NYC campus. This role works closely with the department's graduate assistant to help plan and promote events, and to raise the visibility of ESS research, coursework, and community engagement across campus and online.
This is a great opportunity for a student interested in environmental communication, science outreach, or nonprofit/academic event coordination to gain hands-on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the graduate assistant in planning and executing department events (lectures, workshops, field trips, welcome events, etc.) on the NYC campus
- Help set up, staff, and break down event logistics (room reservations, materials, signage, refreshments)
- Draft and schedule social media posts highlighting ESS events, student research, faculty work, and department news
- Take photos/video at events for use on social media and department communications
- Help maintain a content calendar for ongoing social media and event promotion
- Coordinate with student clubs, faculty, and campus offices as needed to promote ESS activities
- Support other departmental communication tasks as assigned (flyers, email announcements, newsletter content)
- Currently enrolled undergraduate student at Pace University (ideally in ESS department and a member of PSI)
- Interest in environmental studies, science communication, media/marketing, or a related field
- Comfortable using social media platforms (Instagram, etc.) for professional/organizational purposes
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Reliable, able to work independently and as part of a team
- Available to help staff occasional evening or weekend events
- Prior experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) a plus, but not required
- Work-Study and Non-Work Study Accepted.
