Southland Transportation is seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to lead our maintenance team and oversee the daily operations of our maintenance facility in North Battleford.
The Shop Foreman works an 8-hour day shift Monday through Friday, with overtime as required. Will be required to be available during operational hours to support operations and shop staff as needed.

Key Responsibilities
The Shop Foreman is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day maintenance activities of the shop and must achieve set standards of maintenance within budgeted costs and in accordance with company policies and procedures. The position is directly accountable to the Operations Manager and indirectly to the Area Maintenance Manager for the effective utilization of shop facilities, equipment/manpower, and the maintenance, efficiency, and safety of buses serviced.
- Lead a unionized workforce in accordance with the collective agreement and company policies
- Assist in all aspects of maintenance and shop facility maintenance
- Train new employees in safe and productive operating procedures
- Perform administrative work, as required
- Display professional leadership with fellow employees in support of Company goals and values
- Work in accordance with Company policies/procedures and government regulations – regularly monitory shop staff to ensure compliance
- Stay aware of key cost areas such as warranties and supplies
- Schedule sequence of maintenance services and quarterly inspections on buses to optimize balances between operating requirements, downtime of revenue equipment and overall shop productivity
- Record and report accident damage to equipment and any/all personal injuries
- Maintain a high level of awareness amongst personnel of potential task related hazards
- Check that work orders are accurate and appropriate for work performed; clarify work with dispatch as required
- Continuously monitor effectiveness of bus cleaning & ensure standards are followed and met
- Ensure that all regulatory requirements are met in the handling of hazardous materials
- Report any damaged equipment or shop deficiency in need of correction to Area Maintenance Manager and coordinate repairs or replacement as needed
What You Bring
- Journeyperson Ticket (Heavy Duty or Automotive)
- SGI inspection License - considered an asset
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a fleet, transportation, or heavy equipment environment
- Experience handling employee performance concerns, coaching, and conflict resolution
- Demonstrated success leading unionized employees considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of collective agreement administration and labour relations practices considered an asset
- Experience with maintenance management software and work order systems
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Own hand tools
