    Communications Coordinator (Digital Content) – Strongim Wok Long TVET

    · Fixed term contract up to 28 September 2028 (with possible extension)

    · Based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

    About PNG-Australia Strongim Wok Long TVET (SWLT)

    The PNG–Australia Strongim Wok Long Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) (SWLT) program is a four-year, AUD 80 million investment by the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to support Papua New Guinea’s (PNG) efforts to strengthen its TVET sector. Aligned with PNG’s national priority to build an educated and skilled workforce for resilient economic growth, SWLT aims to enhance the quality, relevance, and inclusiveness of skills development. The program supports improvements in national quality assurance systems, technical college standards, graduate employability, and Australia’s visible and trusted development partnership with PNG.

    The program aligns with the broader goals of the Australia–PNG Development Partnership Plan 2024–2029, which emphasises locally led development, education investment, and inclusive growth, as well as PNG’s Higher and Technical Education Reform Act 2020.

    This Opportunity

    As Communications Coordinator (Digital Content) you will be responsible for developing content priorities and will lead the day-to-day production of engaging multimedia content. You will work across SWLT activities, technical colleges, the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology (DHERST) and the wider TVET sector, you will identify compelling stories and produce high-quality written, photographic and video content for digital, social media, media and public diplomacy channels.

    This will include:

    · Work closely with the Communications Coordinator and colleagues across SWLT to plan content, identify opportunities and support delivery of the Communications and Public Diplomacy Strategy and workplan.

    · Identify and develop compelling stories from across SWLT, DHERST, technical colleges and the wider TVET sector, including interviewing stakeholders and drafting media releases, social media copy, profiles, case studies and feature content.

    · Document SWLT activities through high-quality photography and video, including during field visits, events and program activities, and edit this material into strong digital products such as short-form videos, reels and interviews.

    · Develop and support social media campaigns for SWLT, DHERST and Australian Government channels, adapting content and approaches for different audiences and platforms.

    · Keep up to date with social media trends, platform changes and emerging content formats, and monitor performance and audience engagement to inform future content and campaigns.

    · Ensure all content meets agreed messaging, branding, safeguarding, consent, captioning and permissions requirements.

    · Maintain an organised library of photographs, video footage, interviews and other digital assets, and contribute as an active and collaborative member of the broader SWLT team.

    Program-wide responsibilities

    · Understand and contribute to SWLT gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) objectives as relevant to this role and participate in GEDSI learning and engagement as required.

    · Adhere to DFAT and Palladium safeguarding standards and policies and commit to prevent harm, and commit to promoting safe, inclusive environments, including reporting concerns appropriately.

    · Model, contribute to and support an office culture of learning and performance with colleagues, junior staff and counterparts.

    · This role supports and upholds the organisation’s commitment to environmental sustainability, such as reducing resource use and promoting climate-friendly practices.

    · Contribute to the development and implementation of solutions that deliver value and ensure SWLT principles[1] are embedded within program delivery.

    About you

    You will demonstrate proven experience in the following areas:

    · At least five years’ relevant professional experience in journalism, digital media, multimedia storytelling, communications or content production.

    · A portfolio of published work demonstrating strong writing, photography and video production.

    · Strong interviewing, writing and editing skills, including experience producing media releases and other media-ready content.

    · Demonstrated professional experience in photography, videography and video editing.

    · Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, campaigns and analytics.

    · Experience producing content in the field, including in regional or remote locations.

    · Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams, while managing competing priorities and deadlines.

    · An understanding of the political and cultural context in PNG, with the ability to work respectfully with government counterparts and other stakeholders.

    · Experience working with government, donor-funded programs, education or TVET in PNG would be advantageous.
