Position Responsibilities:
- Obtain from insurance carrier the following for every procedure ordered: Authorization, Pre-certification, Copay, Deductible, out of pocket expense, network eligibility for the facility and Provider. Provide insurance carrier and clinical documentation required to get procedure approved for consideration
- Contact patient and review information obtained from insurance carrier. Document all information in the patient’s chart in a telephone encounter.
- Collect from the patient any copay and /or deductible that is due prior to their procedure date.
- Offer payment plans to patients that are unable to pay in full the balance owed. Set up payment plans when applicable.
- Have benefits cleared 21 days prior to the procedure.
- Work on STAT / Urgent procedures scheduled and obtain authorization.
- Communicate with Provider and Facility if there are any issues with coverage or benefits.
- Knowledge of ICD 10 and CPT codes.
- Can distinguish if an ICD 10 code is applicable to a CPT code ordered.
- Provides training and education to new hires and current employees in the department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or GED (required)
Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in medical setting (preferred)
