Local News Content Producer

What You'll Do

Produce 16-20 local news stories per day across multiple Patch sites.
Use AI tools to efficiently draft and develop accurate, engaging local news content
Identify newsworthy stories from government agencies, municipalities, businesses, schools, nonprofits, public meetings and community organizations.
Monitor social media, local websites, newsletters and public records to discover original story ideas and community trends
Create compelling, SEO-friendly headlines
Verify facts and ensure all content meets Patch's editorial standards.
Edit and proofread stories for AP Style, clarity, grammar and accuracy.

What We're Looking For

Experience writing for digital media, student publications, local news organizations or similar outlets.
Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
Understanding of AP Style.
Comfortable using AI and emerging technology as part of the editorial workflow.
Strong news judgment and the ability to recognize compelling local stories.
Creative thinker with the ability to generate story ideas independently.
Comfortable working independently and managing deadlines.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Familiarity with social media platforms as reporting and newsgathering tools.
Technologically savvy with the ability to quickly learn new publishing tools and workflows.
