WHY WORK AT PATH?

JOB SUMMARY: To promote the mission of PATH to help individuals achieve a more independent and fulfilling life by working with the business (ID, BH, ADMIN) to track and manage financial performance and provide financial information, forecasting and analysis to help guide decision making and set strategy. This position must have solid budgeting, accounting and financial knowledge and experience to guide the business in effectively managing their fiscal programs.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration. At least 3-5 years experience or equivalent combination or education and experience, in budget creation and implementation, financial statement and reporting, GAAP accounting, Non-Profit accounting and compliance experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Minimal in nature for this position.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

1. Develop, review, and analyze assigned operating and capital budgets for completeness, accuracy, reasonableness, and alignment with organizational priorities, historical trends, funding requirements, and established fiscal policies.
2. Prepare recurring and ad hoc budget analyses, schedules, projections, financial status reports, and recommendations to support the annual budget process, ongoing financial monitoring, and management decision-making.
3. Collaborate with departmental leadership throughout the budget development and monitoring process to review financial performance, assumptions, projections, and resource needs.
4. Analyze actual financial performance against budget, investigate significant revenue and expense

Accounting & Financial Operations

1. Perform account analysis and review assigned financial activity to identify discrepancies, unusual activity, trends, and necessary adjustments while ensuring financial transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with GAAP, funding source requirements, agency policies, and internal controls.
2. Prepare journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, allocations, and other general ledger transactions as assigned.
3. Prepare and reconcile assigned general ledger accounts, bank accounts, petty cash accounts, and other financial accounts in accordance with established monthly closing schedules.
4. Create, maintain, and review allocation methodologies and distribution tables to ensure expenses are appropriately allocated across programs, departments, and funding sources.
5. Review, analyze, and forecast payroll expenses, benefit allocations, payroll accruals, and other personnel-related costs; identify discrepancies and financial impacts; and coordinate with Payroll and Finance & Accounting staff as necessary.

Accounts Payable, Purchasing & Expense Management

1. Support Accounts Payable and expense management activities by reviewing invoices, employee expense reports, expenditure requests, coding, approvals, and other supporting documentation to ensure transactions are properly authorized, supported, and recorded to the appropriate general ledger account, program, and funding source.
2. Monitor professional services contracts, purchase orders, expenditures, encumbrances, and related funding allocations and prepare periodic reports regarding available funding and outstanding commitments.
3. Provide financial and procedural support to end users, vendors, and professional service providers regarding system access, expenditure requests, purchasing, invoices, payments, documentation, and other assigned Finance & Accounting matters.
4. Participate in the annual Class 300/400 inventory process, periodic inventory activities, and other financial control procedures as assigned.

Audit, Compliance & Financial Reporting

1. Prepare financial schedules, reconciliations, reports, analyses, and supporting documentation for Finance & Accounting leadership, organizational departments, funding sources, auditors, and other external parties as assigned.
2. Participate in the annual financial statement audit, Single Audit, funding source audits, regulatory reviews, and other financial monitoring activities.
3. Monitor assigned financial activities for compliance with agency fiscal policies, funding source requirements, internal controls, and established Finance & Accounting procedures.
4. Identify discrepancies, control weaknesses, or financial risks and escalate concerns to Finance & Accounting leadership while assisting with corrective action and resolution.

Cross-Functional Finance Support & Continuous Improvement

1. Develop proficiency across multiple Finance & Accounting functions through cross-training and provide coverage and support based on departmental priorities and operational needs.
2. Collaborate with Finance & Accounting staff, Revenue Operations, Payroll, organizational departments, and leadership to resolve financial issues and support effective fiscal management.
3. Participate in the implementation, testing, optimization, and ongoing utilization of financial systems, automation, reporting tools, and technology solutions.
4. Identify and recommend opportunities to improve Finance & Accounting workflows, strengthen internal controls, reduce manual processes, and improve the accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of financial operations.
