About the Role:

The Rad Tech/Ultrasound professional plays a critical role in the healthcare system by performing diagnostic imaging procedures that assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. This position involves operating ultrasound and radiologic equipment to capture high-quality images of patients’ internal structures, ensuring accuracy and clarity for effective medical evaluation. The role requires close collaboration with healthcare teams to interpret imaging results and provide timely information that supports patient care decisions. Additionally, the Rad Tech/Ultrasound specialist is responsible for maintaining patient safety and comfort throughout the imaging process, adhering to all regulatory and safety standards. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to patient outcomes by delivering precise diagnostic information in a compassionate and professional manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology and Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
• Current certification and licensure as a Radiologic Technologist and Ultrasound Technologist as required by the state of employment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to diagnostic imaging.
• Proficiency in operating ultrasound and radiologic imaging equipment.
• Strong understanding of radiation safety and infection control standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced certifications such as ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Radiography and/or Sonography specialties.
• Experience with specialized ultrasound procedures such as vascular, obstetric, or abdominal imaging.
• Familiarity with Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and electronic medical records (EMR) software.
• Previous experience working in a hospital or clinical setting with diverse patient populations.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Responsibilities:

• Operate ultrasound and radiologic imaging equipment to perform diagnostic procedures according to established protocols.
• Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process, positioning them correctly, and ensuring their comfort and safety.
• Review images for quality and completeness, making adjustments as necessary to obtain optimal diagnostic results.
• Maintain accurate patient records and document imaging procedures in compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards.
• Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to discuss imaging findings and support clinical decision-making.
• Ensure all imaging equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and sanitized according to safety guidelines.
• Adhere to radiation safety protocols and infection control procedures to protect patients, staff, and self.
• Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with advances in imaging technology and best practices.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Rad Tech/Ultrasound professional to accurately operate complex imaging equipment and produce diagnostic-quality images essential for patient care. Strong communication skills are used daily to explain procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and cooperation during imaging. Attention to detail is critical when positioning patients and reviewing images to avoid errors that could impact diagnosis. Knowledge of safety protocols is applied continuously to minimize radiation exposure and maintain a sterile environment. Preferred skills such as proficiency with PACS and EMR systems enhance workflow efficiency and facilitate seamless information sharing among healthcare providers.
