ASTI Environmental has an opening for a full-time, skilled, detail-oriented, well-organized Environmental Technician. We are looking for candidates with 3 to 6 years’ experience, including asbestos inspection experience.
Responsibilities
- Complete NESHAP asbestos inspections and other sampling of asbestos-containing materials in vacant and occupied commercial, industrial and residential buildings
- Complete lead-based paint inspections and risk assessments in vacant and occupied residential buildings, including the collection of paint chips, surface dust and soil samples
- Complete lead surveys and personal exposure assessments in various settings
- Assist with Hazardous Materials & Universal Waste Surveys
- Assist with Lead-in-Drinking Water sampling
- Assist with Radon testing
- Assist with mold and/or indoor air quality evaluations including the collection of air, bulk and swab samples for mold
- Independently operate sampling equipment and direct reading instruments
- Environmental data management and analysis
- Prepare standard technical reports following regulatory guidance and company procedures
- Interface with clients on jobsites
- Adhere to company policies and safety guidelines, along with EPA, OSHA, and local regulations
- Oversee subcontractors
- Perform abatement oversight, air monitoring and on-site microscopic analysis utilizing NIOSH 582 methods
- May perform soil, groundwater, stormwater, or soil gas sampling
- May perform complex field sampling, remediation or O&M tasks
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- A minimum of a high school diploma required
- Current Asbestos Inspector License and HAZWOPER 40-Hour Certifications required
- Current Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor License preferred
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Proven writing and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Exceptional time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with field and laboratory QA/QC procedures, chain-of-custody protocols, and data management practices
