    Job description

    Who We Are

At Pepper Money, we’re dedicated to helping people succeed—whether it’s buying a family home, a dream car, developing professionally, or growing their business. We’ve become one of the largest, most trusted, and award-winning non-bank lenders in Australia and New Zealand. Over our 26 years, we’ve achieved a lot, but our proudest accomplishment is helping over half a million Australians reach their goals with our ever-expanding lending options.

    The Role

Join Pepper's First Line Risk team and help protect our mortgage business from fraud, financial crime and operational risk. This newly created role will lead complex investigations, identify emerging risks and strengthen the controls that keep our customers and business safe.

Working closely with teams across Credit, Settlements, Risk and Compliance, you'll play a key role in investigating fraud, uncovering process weaknesses and driving better risk outcomes across the business.

    • Lead complex fraud investigations and act as a senior escalation point

    • Investigate suspicious activity, falsified documentation and emerging fraud trends

    • Identify control gaps and recommend improvements to reduce risk

    • Deliver assurance and quality reviews across mortgage credit

    • Analyse data and reporting to identify trends and insights

    • Coach and support team members

    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and risk uplift activities

    About you

You're an experienced risk or fraud professional with a background in lending or financial services. You enjoy solving complex problems, investigating issues thoroughly and using your judgement to make sound decisions.

Comfortable working autonomously, you're able to influence stakeholders, support others and help drive a strong risk culture while remaining focused on practical business outcomes.

    • Experience in fraud investigations, first line risk or assurance within financial services
    • Strong understanding of lending, mortgage operations or credit assessment
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to identify trends, control weaknesses and emerging risks
    • Knowledge of AML, NCCP and regulatory obligations
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
    • Experience coaching or providing guidance to others
    • Advanced Excel skills, with exposure to Power BI highly regarded

At Pepper Money, collaboration is just as vital as your skills. Our values are the heartbeat of our success, driving everything we do:
