About the Role:
The Explore Team at PicCollage is where bold ideas come to life. We're a small, fast-moving group with a startup mindset, building new creative apps and prototypes from scratch—some are experimental, some are already live, and others are gaining real traction in the market.
We’re on a mission to launch the next million-download app that empowers creativity in new ways. If you’re excited by zero-to-one challenges and want to work at the intersection of mobile, creativity, and AI, this is the team for you.
We are looking for a Mobile Developer (3+ years of Android experience required) who thrives in ambiguity, moves quickly, and has a track record of using AI tools to build and ship real products. You will work with talented people to explore new ideas, learn new technologies, and build photo/video apps that make people's lives more fun and interesting. We use modern techniques and tools in our development including best practices suggested by Google, Compose, and Kotlin coroutines.
We equip our developers with best-in-class AI coding tools to dramatically boost their productivity, so we're especially keen to meet people who already have hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding and their own ideas about how to make the most of it. We also believe in constant learning and personal growth — our developers attend workshops and conferences such as KotlinConf and Google I/O.
What You'll Do:
- Design, document, and deliver high-quality software with the help of state-of-the-art AI coding tools provided by the company.
- Participate in design reviews and discuss architectures with team members to keep the quality of our software high.
- Work together with a team including product managers, designers, and other developers to explore new applications and ideas.
- Explore and evaluate new technologies. Share what you find valuable to the team.
- Help improve how our AI coding tools work with our codebase (harness engineering).
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong problem-solving skills, including analytical thinking and algorithms.
- Solid experience with Android native mobile development using Kotlin, coroutines, and Jetpack Compose.
- Familiar with implementing Android custom views.
- An eye for Android application performance, including runtime memory usage and rendering time.
- Good familiarity with modern software architectures and Jetpack components.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including proficient written and spoken English.
- English communication requirement: Able to communicate effectively in a professional environment. You’ll be expected to collaborate with international team members, participate in company meetings conducted in English, present your work or demos, and communicate through English documentation and Slack.
Nice-To-Haves:
- Experience with Media3 Transformer API.
- Experience with AI coding tools and the best practices with them.
- Side projects showcasing your creativity and passion for learning.
- Any image/video editing domain-related experience, for example:
- Familiar with computer graphics
- Advanced gestures including pinch and rotation
- Using camera on Android devices
- Video encoding using MediaCodec
- Some experience with OpenGL, OpenCV, or image/video processing.
- Familiar with scrum/agile methodology and practices.
