LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE HEALTHCARE ACCESS

1. Responds promptly to each incoming call.

2. Obtains and documents the reason for the call.

3. Collects information such as patient details, medical history, billing and insurance information.

4. Enters information into EHR and maintains accurate and complete records.

5. Communicates effectively with other departments to coordinate scheduling, referrals and other patient needs.

6. Informs patients and their caregivers of hospital procedures, policies and protocols when necessary.

7. Communicates effectively with healthcare providers to ensure caller’s needs are met.

8. Assists in improving organizational performance and building good working relationships with areas and disciplines with the Medical Center systems.

9. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

10. Meets departmental specific competencies.

11. Adheres to dress code.

12. Maintains strict patient confidentiality and treats patients and families with respect and dignity.

13. Adheres to medical center policies addressing infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines.

14. Maintains current nursing skills and knowledge base by completion of mandatory continuing education. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Experience in a clerical position preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance plans is beneficial. Strong administrative and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in data entry systems such as an EHR. Ability to multitask and maintain strong attention to detail. Compassionate and patient. Knowledge of basic operations of standard medical equipment.  Basic knowledge of diagnostic testing and organizational procedures.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:

A high school diploma or equivalency is required. Specialized vocational or technical training for LPN is required.

Current KY LPN licensure is required.

Current BLS training is required.
