Position Summary
The Structural Fitter is responsible for laying out, fitting, aligning, and assembling fabricated metal parts and structures according to drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications. This role ensures all structural components meet dimensional, quality, and safety standards prior to welding and final assembly. Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, cut lists, and specifications. Lay out, position, and secure parts using measurement tools.
Fit and tack-weld parts for welding and final assembly. Verify alignment and dimensional tolerances. Assemble structural components. Operate fabrication tools such as grinders, torches, magnetic drills, and overhead cranes. Perform in-process inspections. Complete documentation, checklists, and work orders. Follow safety procedures including PPE, LOTO, and crane protocols.
