    Job description

THE IGNITION MARINE TEAM IS GROWING! BRAND NEW ROLE AVAILABLE!

Are you a detail-oriented parts professional with a deep knowledge of marine systems and a passion for technical accuracy? Our valued client, Ignition Marine Service, is seeking an experienced Marine Parts Specialist to join their parts and inventory operations. In this critical service-support role reporting to the Parts Manager, you will be the organizational hub of the parts department. You will identify, source, quote, order, and coordinate marine parts and components, ensuring that expert technicians have exactly what they need to execute service work efficiently and on time. By researching specialized or difficult-to-source components and managing supplier relationships, you will directly support world-class quality standards and operational workflow.

    WHY JOIN IGNITION MARINE SERVICES?

Ignition Marine is an ISO 9001-accredited marine solutions provider based in North Vancouver and Richmond that delivers comprehensive services for vessels ranging from recreational to commercial ships. Acting as a premier "Pacific Northwest Marine Centre," the company specializes in yacht sales and brokerage while operating a full-service technical department that handles mechanical engine repairs, electrical systems, structural fibreglass fabrication, and complete vessel refits. The broad scope of expertise extends to specialized offerings such as marine repowering, insurance claim repairs, professional skipper services, and canvas fabrication, all supported by a team of certified marine technicians focused on high-performance quality control.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

You are the anchor supporting both technicians and service advisors on the floor. Your precision prevents job delays and stockouts. Specific responsibilities include:

    • Parts Identification & Sourcing: Identify marine parts, components, hardware, and supplies based on technician, service, and work-order requirements; Research catalogues, technical diagrams, databases, and online systems to verify part compatibility and compatible alternatives.
    • Purchasing & Supplier Coordination: Source parts from manufacturers, distributors, and approved suppliers. Prepare purchase orders, compare pricing, and track outstanding or backordered items to prevent service delays.
    • Inventory & Staging Operations: Receive, inspect, verify, label, and store incoming parts. Keep the storage area meticulously organized and clean, and ensure parts are properly staged and available for scheduled service work.
    • Service & Advisory Support: Work closely with Marine Technicians and Service Advisors to understand active project needs. Prepare accurate parts quotations, provide rapid ETAs, and escalate complex technical queries when necessary.
    • Technical Problem-Solving: Research obsolete, discontinued, or specialized parts, developing practical alternative solutions to resolve complex service constraints.
    • Team Collaboration: Coordinate with the Parts Assistant regarding receiving, stocking, and daily departmental activities, supporting their growth and technical training.

THE EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES YOU BRING:

    • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in marine parts and service, with hands-on experience in a marine dealership, boatyard, repair facility, or similar yacht-centric environment. Experience within the marine industry is required.
    • Technical Fluency: Strong knowledge of marine engines (such as MAN, Mercury, Volvo, Cummins), propulsion systems, electrical hardware, and pleasurecraft and commercial vessel terminology.
    • Sourcing Expertise: Demonstrated experience identifying specialized or obsolete components using manufacturer parts catalogues and schematics.
    • System & Digital Proficiency: Experience utilizing inventory management systems, ERP databases, point-of-sale platforms, and online supplier portals. Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) are essential.
    • Precision: High attention to detail when working with complex part numbers, technical specifications, and inventory quantities to minimize ordering errors and returns.
    • Collaborative Mindset: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with technicians and external suppliers in a respectful, multicultural environment.

    WHAT IGNITION MARINE OFFERS:

    • Opportunities for ongoing professional development and career advancement.
    • The opportunity to work with a respected and established brand in the marine industry.
    • Rewards for efficiency and leadership. With the commission structure based on monthly revenue targets, your total compensation potential far exceeds base pay.
    • A comprehensive benefits package with 100% company-paid health benefits.
    • Holiday shutdown time-off in addition to vacation days.
    • A fast-growing, "work hard, play hard" team that values loyalty, harmony, and high performance.
    • Industry Leadership: Work with top-tier partners like MAN, Honda, Garmin, and Azimut Yachts in an ISO 9001-accredited facility.
