Job Description:

You want to lead, design, and take full ownership of our global indirect tax operations across complex international jurisdictions as Plusgrade continues to expand.

What You'll Be Doing

You will serve as the primary lead for designing end-to-end global indirect tax processes, partnering with cross-functional teams as Plusgrade expands across international markets. You will review commercial partner contracts, establish indirect tax positions for complex global transactions, and lead audits and tax authority inquiries with minimal business disruption. You own Canadian return filings, oversee international compliance, and keep our tax policies aligned with evolving global regulations. AI handles the first pass on variance analysis and transaction pattern recognition, so your focus stays on the high-impact judgment calls and cross-border structuring that actually need you.

What You Bring

• You have deep technical mastery of Canadian indirect tax legislation along with a strong working knowledge of US and international tax frameworks, ideally honed in Big 4 accounting or a complex global tech environment.
• You do not wait for clear rules in unchartered territory; you know how to navigate ambiguous tax regulations in emerging markets and translate intricate legal text into clear, actionable business strategies.
• You evaluate and challenge external advisor guidance critically, making sure international tax positions are fully optimized before applying them to commercial contracts.
• You manage high-stakes tax authority audits, desk reviews, and complex reconciliations independently, keeping documentation tight and resolving queries without slowing down the rest of the company.
• When it comes to AI, you do not just use basic prompts; you have built and refined repeatable workflows for recurring financial tasks, knowing exactly where the output is reliable and where your human tax expertise must take over.
