About the role:

We are looking for an experienced Desk Adjuster to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled claims professional with experience in buildings and contents insurance claims to play a key role in delivering fair, accurate, and customer-focused outcomes. The Desk Adjuster will liaise with customers, contractors, Network Surveyors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to progress claims efficiently and achieve cost effective claim resolutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of domestic buildings and contents claims remotely from first notification through to settlement and closure within delegated authority limits of up to £30,000.
• Review claim circumstances, policy coverage, damage evidence, photographs, videos, contractor estimates, and supporting documentation to determine claim validity.
• Assess buildings and contents claims in accordance with policy terms, conditions, and claims handling guidelines.
• Produce accurate scopes of work and validate repair estimates using estimating tools such as Xactware.
• Negotiate and agree claim settlements, cash settlements, and repair solutions with customers and suppliers within delegated authority.
• Validate customer quotations, invoices, and contractor estimates relating to buildings and contents losses to ensure costs are reasonable and proportionate.
• Instruct Network Surveyors, inhouse Loss Adjusters, specialist suppliers, or contractors where additional technical expertise or site attendance is required.

Key Requirements:

• Previous experience handling property insurance claims, loss adjusting claims, or household buildings and contents claims.
• Experience assessing claims remotely using photographs, videos, contractor estimates, and supporting documentation.
• Good understanding of domestic building repairs, reinstatement principles, and estimating techniques.
• Experience interpreting insurance policy wordings and applying coverage decisions.
• Experience managing property & contents claims within delegated authority limits up to £30,000 is desirable.
• Experience using claims management systems and estimating platforms such as Xactware is desirable.
