REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

As part of Potentia’s Business Management team, this position reports to the Vice-President, Business Management, and has no direct reports.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

An engineering graduate early in their career who wants a way into renewable energy and room to grow once there. You are comfortable reading a drawing, a technical specification or a set of regulatory requirements, and you can explain what they mean in plain language. You write clearly, you pick up new software quickly, and you want to learn how AI tools can take repetitive work off a team’s plate.

This role sits at the centre of the Business Management team. You will coordinate Potentia’s NERC compliance program, produce the portfolio report that goes to the executive team each week, build AI tools that help the team work faster, and keep the team’s administrative work moving. The mix is broad by design. It exposes you to every part of how we run operating assets, and it builds the foundation for a longer career in business management at Potentia, with room for growth and promotion as you take on more.

The Business Management Coordinator supports the team that manages the financial, commercial and regulatory performance of Potentia’s operating wind, solar and battery storage assets. You will work with Business Managers, Operations, Finance, Legal and the executive team.

Expect variety. In a given week you might chase a NERC action item with a site operator, publish the weekly performance report, map a recurring team process so it can be automated, and route a stack of invoices to the right Business Manager. Administrative work is a real part of the job, and doing it well keeps the team running. We want someone who takes pride in all of it.

Role & Responsibilities:

Technical Compliance and NERC

• Coordinate Potentia’s technical compliance programs, with NERC Reliability Standards as the main focus.
• Serve as the internal NERC point person and subject matter expert, answering questions from colleagues and keeping the compliance calendar, procedures and evidence current.
• Confirm that each function meets its assigned compliance responsibilities, and follow up where items fall behind.
• Track compliance issues and action items through to closure, and report their status to the Vice-President, Business Management.
• Monitor regulatory changes, assess how they affect Potentia’s assets, and update internal procedures as needed.
• Prepare and file required submissions to NERC and the relevant regional entities.
• Full training is provided. Prior NERC experience is an asset.

Portfolio Performance Reporting

• Prepare the weekly portfolio performance report and distribute it to Potentia’s executive team.
• Check source data for completeness and accuracy before the report goes out, and resolve gaps with Operations and Business Managers.
• Support Business Managers with ad hoc analytics requests on asset performance, revenue and costs.
• Help prepare board reporting materials.

AI Tools and Process Automation

• Identify the team’s recurring processes, map them, and document each step clearly.
• Use AI tools, primarily Claude, to build agents, skills and automations for repetitive tasks such as reporting, tracking and document review.
• Test what you build, check the output critically, and maintain the tools as processes change.
• Help the team adopt these tools and streamline how business management work gets done.

Team and Administrative Support

• Direct incoming email, mail and invoices to the correct Business Manager, and follow up so items get actioned.
• Help maintain the team’s document management, keeping files organized, consistently named and easy to find.
• Help organize team meetings and events.
• Take on ad hoc tasks as assigned by the Vice-President, Business Management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Technical Aptitude

• Comfort working with engineering drawings, technical specifications and technical requirements, and with technical conversations.
• Strong computer skills, including Excel and the Microsoft 365 suite.
• Interest in AI and automation. Experience with Claude, ChatGPT or similar tools is an asset, and scripting experience in Python or a similar language is a bonus.

Communication and Work Style

• Clear, well-organized writing, and the confidence to communicate with colleagues at every level, including executives.
• Strong organization and attention to detail, with the discipline to follow items through to completion.
• A fast learner who is motivated to work hard and take on new responsibilities.
• A positive attitude and a willingness to handle administrative tasks alongside technical and analytical work.

Passion for Renewables

• Interest in wind, solar, battery storage and the energy transition.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a similar technical field.
• Zero to two years of professional experience. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply, and co-op or internship experience in energy, utilities or infrastructure is an asset.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule from our Toronto office. Travel is minimal.

COMPENSATION

• Base salary range: $65,000 to $75,000 CAD, commensurate with experience.
• Target annual bonus: 10% of base salary.
