Job description

Do you have a background in high volume micro-electronic manufacturing, preferably in the area of post-fabrication assembly? Do you have experience in laser processing and other photonic processes, including helping to specify new tools and acceptance testing? If you are looking for a new challenge, and you can demonstrate an ability to mentor a team of engineers in complex problem solving, we could have the perfect role for you.

Key tasks:

Develop robust, high yielding and stable laser-based processes operating on structured polymer films at high volume
Develop innovative, cost-effective equipment in partnership with vendors
Provide high quality mentoring, leadership and training to engineering, operational and maintenance staff
Produce effective reports, publications and presentations in a professional manner

Qualifications and training:

Good degree in engineering (mechanical, chemical), physics, materials science or related discipline.
Research experience in laser or photonics processing (an advantage)
Green belt Lean 6 sigma certification or higher (an advantage)

Skills and experience:

Wide experience of developing materials processes using lasers (an advantage)
Understanding of the key aspects of photonic processing control
Confident ability to inspect and interpret thin film processes using microscopy
Exposure to the processing of delicate materials such as thin films, polymers or bio materials
Understanding of some of the techniques for fabrication of micrometer-scale devices and structures, such as photolithography, thin film deposition, injection moulding, ink-jet printing (an advantage)
Ability to work with equipment suppliers, developing trials, specifications and tracking projects for the supply of advanced processing equipment
Use of Quality Systems in development and manufacturing
Familiarity with the use of quality-enhancing techniques such as 8D, FMEA. Experience with sophisticated experimental design methods such as DoE, Taguchi
Demonstrable innovation within an industrial environment
Strong and demonstrable problem-solving skills to support product development and manufacturing
Ability to mentor and lead colleagues in technical developments
Can demonstrate strong mentoring and leadership skills

The successful candidate will be experienced in PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) process development in the micro-electronics field and be responsible for designing, implementing, controlling and optimising some of PragmatIC’s production processes to ensure the company can meet its business goals.
