    Job description

Precision is an award-winning integrated strategy and marketing agency based in Washington, DC and New York, NY. Powered by data, we bring world-class experts in each of our service areas to conceive, develop, and run campaigns that help our clients seize opportunities and solve their biggest challenges.

Our work sits at the intersection of politics, business, and culture, helping leaders and organizations make an impact when it matters most. We hire people who are the best at what they do, and who like to have fun doing it; we don’t just break through. We break new ground.

Our team is seeking an Associate Vice President to join our Strategic Communications team in New York, NY or Washington DC executing cutting-edge communications strategy for clients ranging from nonprofits and advocacy groups to media start-ups and industry leaders.

    What You Will Be Doing:

    Client Management

    • Owns client relationships and serves as the day-to-day lead across multiple small accounts or large workstreams.
    • Manages timelines and deliverables for multiple clients with minimal oversight, proactively addresses issues, and builds trusted client partnerships.

    Digital Specific:

    • Content Development: Owns content strategy across client accounts or campaign portfolios, ensuring content drives engagement, meets performance goals, and supports broader marketing and communications objectives. Partners with clients and internal teams to define the role of content across the funnel and channels. Oversees content quality, performance, and innovation, and supports the growth and development of junior content team members. They identify gaps in the market, anticipate where the industry is heading, and translate those insights into actionable recommendations for Precision’s specialties and service offerings.
    • Platform Skills: Create and run content production processes across a variety of systems. Develop platform-specific digital strategies and expertise within at least one platform specialty (email, social, web)
    • Reporting: Drive digital reporting that maximizes useful strategic insights and positions the client and Precision for further growth.

    Collaboration

    • Effectively leads cross-functional collaboration across communications, data, creative, and paid media teams to deliver cohesive, high-impact work. Builds strong internal networks and plays a key role in fostering alignment on behalf of clients.
    • Leads productive internal and external meetings and tailors messaging to the audience. Communicates effectively up, down, and across teams.
    • Provides strategic guidance to junior staff, delivering clear, actionable feedback that sharpens thinking and strengthens execution. Actively mentors team members to support their growth and development.

    Project & Time Management

    • Drives projects efficiently and independently, managing small teams and overseeing multiple initiatives from start to finish. Recognized by client leads, managers and overall client teams as a critical contributor.
    • Crafts clear work plans and delegates effectively.

    Strategy

    • Drafts and oversees development of clear, strategic, and persuasive content across projects. Provides guidance and editorial oversight, elevating team outputs through thoughtful feedback and mentorship.
    • Leverages tools and sources to generate insights that shape strategy, applying seasoned judgment rooted in client and stakeholder priorities. Ensures deliverables drive long-term goals.
    • Anticipates gaps or misalignments before they arise, guides teams to course-correct, and ensures alignment with strategic objectives.

    What We Are Looking For:

    • 8+ years working in a communications role in an in-house, government, consultancy environment.
    • Experience managing strategic communications programs and sensitive communications issues.
    • Wide-ranging relationships with the media.
