PURPOSE OF POSITION The accountant will prepare financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 1.
- Maintains a documents system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
- 2.
- Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
- 3.
- Provides financial analysis with emphasis on daily transactions.
- 4.
- Assists with general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
- 5.
- Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheet reconciliations, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- 6.
- Prepares daily financial reports related to daily transactions.
- 7.
- Maintains the general ledger.
- 8.
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and assists in closing the monthly books.
- 9.
- Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts and within payment terms.
- 10.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit as requested by Controller.
- 11.
- Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies in timely fashion.
- 12.
- Follows environmental and safety regulation and acts in compliance with U.S. laws.
- 13.
- Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.
- 14.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1.
- Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- 2.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- 3.
- Highly proficient with accounting software.
- 4.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- 5.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- 6.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- EDUCATION AND/OR
EXPERIENCE:
- 1.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
- 2.
- Three to five years of accounting experience required.
