This is a bank opportunity, with shifts offered when cover is needed for annual leave and other absences. It could suit an experienced chef looking to fit additional work around other commitments.
Life Works House is a residential treatment service in Old Woking, Surrey, providing support for adults. The service is located approximately two miles from Woking town centre and is accessible by public transport, with local bus stops a 2–5 minute walk away and Woking railway station approximately a 10-minute taxi journey from the site.
Working with our kitchen team, you’ll prepare and serve varied, nutritious meals for the people staying at Life Works House. You’ll cater for individual dietary needs and preferences, maintain high standards of food safety and kitchen cleanliness, and help manage stock and minimise waste. When covering the Head Chef, you may take responsibility for running the kitchen during your shift and directing catering colleagues.
You’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the service. Whether you're assisting with day-to-day operations, supporting with care requirements, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here. - Experience working in a professional kitchen and preparing meals for groups
- A food hygiene qualification and NVQ Level 2 in catering, or an equivalent qualification
- Good knowledge of food safety and allergens
- The ability to work independently, organise a busy shift and communicate well with colleagues
- A thoughtful approach to individual dietary and nutritional needs
