Role purpose
Within the DVA Chapter, the Guild LeadTech is responsible for strengthening and evolving the discipline for the publishers, integrators and developers across the organisation by activating a strong community of practice, defining shared standards and skills, and continuously improving quality and impact.
The Guild Lead is part of the CoE Operational Excellence and reports to the CoE Lead. It aims to provide clear vision, direction, and guidance for the Guild, ensure alignment with Chapter priorities and business strategy, while enabling chapter members to grow their skills, share best practices, and deliver consistent, high‑quality outcomes at scale
Key responsibilities
Community management: Activate, sustain, and guide a strong community of practice
- Steer the Guild with clarity and focus, setting a clear vision, objectives, and priorities.
- Define and communicate the Guild roadmap aligned with Chapter strategy and business needs.
- Foster engagement, peer support, and collective ownership within the Guild.
- Grow participation and energy within the Guild over time, including mentoring and onboarding of new members.
Skills Framework, Assessment & Upskilling Strategy: Make skills explicit, progressive, and actionable
- Define and maintain the skills standards, taxonomy, and progression levels for the discipline.
- Describe role expectations per level and align them with standards and quality criteria.
- Identify skills gaps and prioritise upskilling needs based on Chapter and business priorities.
- Design and maintain a scalable upskilling strategy (yearly / per cycle), including Learning formats (hands‑on sessions, peer learning, coaching); case studies and reference material; tools and enablers
Standards, Quality & Best Practices: Define, apply, and continuously evolve standards of excellence
- Define discipline‑level standards, methods, frameworks, templates, and deliverables.
- Own and evolve these standards based on feedback, data, and observed practices.
- Define quality criteria per discipline and per phase.
- Establish and support quality moments (reviews, checkpoints, peer feedback).
- Capture and share best practices from guild members: Reusable patterns, documented practices, shared examples.
Strategy, Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Look forward and adapt the discipline to future needs
- Monitor external trends and explore what works, what does not, and where the discipline must evolve.
- Run experiments on new methods, tools, or practices.
- Actively retire practices that no longer create value.
- Align with Scalers and other enabling teams to ensure coherence and adoption.
What Success looks like
- The Guild is active, engaged, and trusted as a reference community.
- Designers have clear skill expectations, understand how to grow, and see tangible learning opportunities.
- Shared standards & best practices are used and reused, not just documented, and lead to more consistent and higher‑quality outcomes.
- The discipline continuously adapts to new needs, tools, and contexts without losing coherence.
